45 years advising presidents, boards, and energy companies across ASEAN and the Middle East on anticipating and surviving disruption. Strategic Advisor to the Presidents of the Philippines, Pakistan, and Timor-Leste.

When the Crisis Hits, the Decision Is Already Made.

The Risk Is Filed. Is It Owned?

Most organisations have a risk register. Many have a crisis communication plan. A smaller number run regular drills. These are necessary. They are not sufficient.  The Strait of Hormuz has been in every Asian energy company's risk register for years.

When disruption hit, the question was not whether the risk had been identified. It was whether anyone had pre-decided what to do when the signpost triggered.  The risk was filed. It was not owned. That gap - between a correctly filed risk and an owned pre-decided response - is where crises are made. Closing that gap is what Peter Cockcroft does.
